By Way Of Introduction
On Saturday, January 11, 2003, the Rev. Charles N. Arlin was instituted by the Rt. Rev. Rufus T. Brome, Assisting Bishop of the Diocese of Newark, as the Third Rector of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Midland Park, NJ.
Father Arlin,
who is a graduate of Hobart College and the General Theological Seminary, came
to Midland Park from All Saints’ Church in Bergenfield, NJ, where he had served
for the past five years.
A retired
Army chaplain, he is married to the former Jane McDonough. They have four
children and nine grandchildren. A native of New York State, Father Arlin has
served parishes in the Diocese of Central New York, the Diocese of New York,
the Diocese of New Jersey, and the Diocese of Hawaii. He is a member of the Department
of Missions and the Resolutions Committee of the Diocese and has served as a
member of the Commission on the Hard of Hearing, Late Deafened and Deaf. During
his institution he was installed as the Chaplain of the Midland Park Fire
Company.
